The ice cream social will be held at the fire house on Saturday, August 4, beginning at 7:00 pm .  The social is FREE; however, the donation boot will be out.  Bring a freezer of your favorite homemade ice cream; or, if you do not have a freezer, bring baked goodies. The fire department will furnish coffee, soft drink and the utensils.  For those of you in the Board Camp Fire District who are unable to attend the social, or have not contributed to the fire department this year and would like to make a donation to the fire department, you can mail your donation to the Board Camp Rural Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 64, Board Camp AR 71932.  Remember, your donation is tax deductible.  Remember the date, meet your neighbors and support YOUR volunteer fire department.

 

During the ice cream social, we will be selling raffle tickets for two different items that have been donated to the fire department for the purpose of raising funds for our new building and general fund.  A beautiful quilt, donated by June Hiaumet, and quilted by Patsy McGregor will be raffled off at the social.  Tickets for the quilt will be $1.00 each; $5.00 for six (6) and $10.00 for twenty (20), and will be on sale at the social.  If you are unable to attend the social and desire tickets for the quilt drawing, please call the director at 394-1329. You need not be present at the social to win the quilt. Larry Hobbs, the local taxidermist, has donated a deer shoulder mount. The mount certificate will be given away at the hamburger bash scheduled for October or November 2007. If you win and do not kill a deer, the prize can be transferred to anyone of your choosing. This prize is valued at $350.00.  You do not need to be present at the hamburger bash to win the mount. The tickets are $1.00 for one (1) ticket; $5.00 for six (6) and $10.00 for twenty (20) tickets.

 

The $15,000 matching grant we submitted was not funded during the current cycle.  The grant has been resubmitted; we will not know if it is funded this next cycle until approximately October. This has delayed the construction of the new building but will give us more time to raise local funds. If you would like to donate to the building fund, please come to the ice cream social or mail your donation to the Board Camp Rural Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 64, Board Camp AR 71932. If you desire to donate more than $250.00 and would like an income tax deductible letter, please contact the director at 394-1329, because there is a different procedure to be used for donations over $250.00.

 

We have received a $1000.00 matching grant from the Arkansas Forestry Commission.  This grant will be used to purchase portable radios, which will enhance our communication system.

 

The pancake breakfast held in March was very successful. We had a good turnout and raised over $3,500.00. Thanks to all who donated and attended.

Please use the parking area adjacent to the fire house when you come to the pancake breakfast to ease the parking congestion in front of the fire department.
